SENTIO PARTNERS ARE DELIGHTED TO ANNOUNCE THE APPOINTMENT OF IAN MARWOOD AS A PARTNER WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT.

Ian has 25 years’ experience in the M&A market, principally in Yorkshire but also including spells in London and Prague. After several years in KPMG’s lead advisory team, Ian joined Grant Thornton in 2002 to build their corporate finance presence in Yorkshire. Over the subsequent decade he became one of the leading and most active players in the Yorkshire advisory market, advising on many important deals for the region. Since leaving Grant Thornton in 2012 he has provided strategic and corporate development advice to a number of entrepreneurial Yorkshire businesses.

Ian’s deal credits include the sale of Federation Brewery to S&N PLC, the sale of Intelligent Data Services to the AA, advising LDC on its investment in Intercontinental Brands and the ISIS backed buyout of Onyx. He has advised Dean Hoyle on a number of transactions including the £350m sale of Card Factory to Charterhouse in 2010. December 2012 saw him sign off in style from Grant Thornton, completing three significant deals for the fast growing packaging group Cepac.

Dave Irwin, Partner at Sentio Partners commented:
Ian has been one of the region’s leading and most respected dealmakers for many years and brings with him both a wealth of experience and a wide range of complementary relationships. His interest in advising entrepreneurial businesses and his hands-on approach with clients presents a natural fit for us. His appointment demonstrates our commitment to building our business and we look forward to continuing the success we’ve enjoyed over the past 18 months.

Ian Marwood commented:
I am excited to be joining Sentio. Their reputation and track record for delivering successful transactions is excellent. More importantly, their philosophy and approach is entirely in tune with my own, reflecting a focus on advice not just process, and on long-term relationships built on trust. I have known and respected Dave and the Sentio team for many years and the chance to work with them was an opportunity I could not turn down.
