Sentio Partners has advised the shareholders of Rainford Group (“Rainford”), a leading designer and manufacturer of indoor and outdoor enclosure solutions for the telecommunications, datacentre and energy markets, on its sale to the Telenco Group. Founded in 1999, Rainford provides bespoke high-quality solutions to its blue chip customers, with which it has enjoyed long-term relationships.

Founded in 1999 and located near Grenoble, France, Telenco is a key player in the production and distribution of passive telecommunications and technician equipment, used mainly in the deployment of fibre optic and copper networks. The Group, which is backed by Ergon Capital, has a global presence with revenue of over €175 million. The UK market will provide significant growth opportunities for Telenco as it continues on its international strategy as a leader in the supply of passive equipment for fibre optic telecommunications networks.

Together the combination of Rainford and Telenco will enable the Group to even better meet its customers’ demand in the UK for the construction of the FTTH and FTTA networks of the future. Datacenters will also be a focus of the Group.

Sean Bennett, Rainford’s founder, said “I am proud of what we have achieved at Rainford, and would like to thank the entire team for their part in this successful journey. In Telenco we have found a good home for Rainford, which should enable it to pursue further growth, while ensuring continued customer focus and attention, which are principles at the heart of Telenco’s DNA”.

Grégory Guimarães, Telenco’s CEO, said “We would like to thank Sean and his team for this opportunity. We are excited to welcome Rainford, one of the leading network equipment brands in the UK, within the Telenco Group, and are confident that together we will achieve our objective to better serve our customers around the globe”.

Telenco has acquired a first-class business which has real potential and scalability to further serve the telecommunications market in the UK and overseas. This transaction demonstrates that even in an uncertain market, there is still strong demand for quality UK businesses.”
