Sentio Partners are proud to be supporting Greens2Blue — two Yorkshire friends, David Knaggs and Richard Larking, as they prepare to row 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean in the World’s Toughest Row 2025.
The challenge will see them row from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua, battling 40-foot waves, tropical storms and exhaustion as they row in two-hour shifts, day and night, for up to 55 days.
Why we’re supporting
For Sentio, this is more than a sponsorship, it’s a story of endurance, teamwork and Yorkshire spirit that mirrors our own values as a firm.
We’re sponsoring the oars that will drive the crew forward on every mile of their journey, a fitting symbol of how Maggie’s and Friends of Alfie Martin help families keep going through their toughest challenges.
Both charities mean a great deal to us. Sentio have long supported Maggie’s Leeds, and Friends of Alfie Martin is especially close to our hearts after the experience of our Partner Andrew Barlow and his family, whose daughter Ella received life-saving neonatal care funded by the charity.
About the challenge
It’s not just distance that makes the challenge daunting. The pair have already been through gruelling training, with practice rows proving tougher than expected and forcing them to refine their approach. Out on the Atlantic they’ll face dangers ranging from marlin strikes — which have been known to pierce hulls — to relentless storms, salt sores and the mental strain of life in a tiny boat.
When Richard and David visited the Sentio office, the stories of their training had everyone hooked. To prepare, they train daily and have even undertaken relationship therapy to strengthen their resilience as a team. Every calorie they consume is carefully measured against their weight, and hygiene is critical throughout to prevent illness or injury during the crossing.
Join our row along
To help keep the momentum going, the Sentio team will be holding their own “row-along” challenge in Leeds, aiming to clock up miles together on rowing machines to mirror the crew’s progress across the Atlantic. They hope to bring colleagues, clients and the wider community together in support of Greens2Blue and their charities. Look out for more details on this soon.
With Sentio’s support, the oars will symbolically carry not just two rowers across the ocean, but
the backing of an entire region cheering them on.
