Martin Cure and Steve Osbaldeston

Sentio has originated Capita plc’s acquisition of BCS Design, an award-winning, multidisciplinary engineering design practice, for an undisclosed sum.

BCS Design provides a wide range of civil, structural, geotechnical engineering and surveying services in markets including rail, highways, industrial and utilities. Some of its recently completed projects include depots, platform extensions, and power supply enhancements, as well as new signalling infrastructure for over 290km of operational railway in the South West.

The Company will join Capita’s 4,200 strong property and infrastructure business and will expand Capita’s existing capabilities in its core markets, enable BCS Design to target larger projects and programmes, and create opportunities to deliver a wider range of expertise and transformational partnerships with clients.

BCS Design was established in 2003 by Steve Osbaldeston, who was later joined in the business by fellow shareholder and director Martin Cure. Both directors will remain in their roles with the business they built.

Simon Birchall, executive director at Capita Property & Infrastructure, said: “BCS Design is an excellent cultural fit for our business. It reflects our commitment to growth, both organically and through the acquisition of strong and innovative businesses, that expand our existing teams and provide the best solutions for our clients. BCS Design is a well-established, award-winning business in key target markets for us and I welcome its people to our business.”
